Tune in to youths
The pre-occupation of progressive Churches in the
world is youth work.
Most Rev. G. O. S. Ositelu (1998)
Youths are the strength of the Church, the
instrument that God can use because of their zeal,
zest and dynamism.
Snr. Apostle Prophet G. O. Fakeye
In times of crisis, God uses young people.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
To bring before our young people the attractiveness
of Christ and enable them to contribute their rich
gifts to His service is the need for the gospel.
Dr. George Carey, Archbishop of Canterbury
Youth all over the world are exuberant. Therefore,
elders have to have understanding for their youthful
exuberant. All they need is to be encouraged and
corrected when necessary with love. Because a
church without youth is a dieing church. As elders,
we need to inculcate the fear of God into them and
invest morality, integrity, humility and love of God
as they are the future leaders.
Dr. Rufus Ositelu,
Primate of the Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide.
Young people must be taken seriously if they are
to stay within the Church, or if the Church wants
to attract young people into its work and mission.
The Church must take seriously and engage in the
issues that are important to young people.
Youth A Part, Young People and the Church
For youths by youths
BEWARE OF THE TIME
Beware of the time
Beware that you do not live
To regret ever being a youth
Times are there for everything
Time for innocence,
Time for seriousness
When youthful exigencies
Warm your blood thin
And make you hyperactive,
See! through the muggy cotton
That blue your sightless vision
For many a-wolf in sheep's cloak
Covet your cherished purity
Only to ruin you.
Educated you must be,
If it's trade you must learn, learn it
Read your Bible and pray in time,
And you will never regret being a youth member.
Make hay while the sun shines
Many have time off the trial blown,
While others steadfast proceed.
Never again to catch the trial
Beware of the times, beware!
And you will never regret being a youth member
Beware of the time
UP THE CHURCH OF THE LORD (ALADURA)
WORLDWIDE, UP GBOLAJOKO, AND
UP CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD!
Directorate of Information and Publicity,
the Youth Ministry of the
Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide
Proudly Announces the
National Youth Convention
Ogere - Nigeria.
December of every year.
Time and time again, empowering young people
has been the focus of progressive societies.
Not only because they constitute a large
chunk of a population but also for the reason
that they form a formidable workforce for p
olitical, social and religious concerns.
Youths are the energy of any community.
The attributes of youths include agility,
versatility, intelligence and purity of mind
and purpose. Youths generally display
dynamism and a lot of drive. However, because
they are readily motivated they are often
open to abuse and wrong use.
It is to this end that the Youth Ministry of
The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide
[Y.M.C.L.A.W] is committed to investing
into the lives of young people in conformity
to the will of God, in order to produce a people
of vision, purpose and integrity. In all of its
programmes and functions, there is the
overwhelming desire to raise young people
who know who they are and what they are
supposed to be, having a clear understanding
of their existence.
YMCLAW organizes a variety of programmes
and embarks on projects beneficial to all and
sundry. Some of which are: Leadership Conferences,
Annual Camp meetings, Retreats, Vocational Training,
Working Tours and Social functions (get-togethers).
This year is a significant one in the annals of the
YMCLAW in that it hosts the
NATIONAL YOUTH CONVENTION taking place
at the Victory Camp Ground, near the Holy Mount
Tabieorar Complex, Ogere, Km 60 along Lagos-Ibadan Exp.
Way, Ogun State. The theme of this year's Convention
s TRUSTING IN GOD: The Source of Strength and
Comfort; (II Cor. 1:4, 9). Features include Lectures,
Seminars, Workshops, Debates, Music, Drama,
Choreography, Brothers'/Sisters' Forum, Diocese
Presentations and lots more!
For the vision statement again,
The Convention certainly marks the dawn of a
new era for youths home and abroad. It seeks
to address pertinent issues in the lives of young
people. Issues relating to career development, health
awareness, interrelationships and spiritual
growth will be appropriately addressed.
Cultism, Prostitution, HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse,
Addictions, Pornography, Violence among
youths and other tough issues will also be
tackled. Social workers, Medical practitioners,
Guidance counsellors, Educationists, Elders
and Ministers of the Gospel are expected to
grace the event with their wealth of
knowledge, experience and expertise.
Youths don't have to waste their lives if they
are properly tutored and guided. This,
Convention is set to accomplish in impacting
the lives of young people, moulding them into
useful vessels to themselves, the Church and
society at large. The Convention is to serve as
a rallying point for youths from all over the
nation and abroad. With its intended inter-denominational
outlook, it represents an ACADEMY FOR YOUTHS,
whose impact would be lasting, God helping.
